Early Life and Career

Kevin Wayne Durant was born on September 29, 1988, in Washington, D.C. He was raised by his mother, Wanda Pratt, who worked two jobs to support him and his brother, Tony. Durant began playing basketball at a young age and quickly showed a natural talent for the sport. He attended Montrose Christian School in Rockville, Maryland, where he led his team to three consecutive state championships.

College Career

After graduating from high school, Durant attended the University of Texas at Austin for one season. In his only season with the Longhorns, Durant averaged 25.8 points and 11.1 rebounds per game and was named the Big 12 Player of the Year. He also led the Longhorns to the NCAA Tournament, where they reached the second round.

NBA Career

Durant was selected second overall by the Seattle SuperSonics in the 2007 NBA draft. He quickly became one of the most promising young players in the league, averaging 20.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game in his rookie season. Durant was named the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2008 and helped lead the Sonics to the playoffs.

In 2008, the Sonics relocated to Oklahoma City and became the Thunder. Durant continued to excel in Oklahoma City, averaging over 25 points per game in each of his first six seasons with the team. He was named an NBA All-Star in each of those seasons and helped lead the Thunder to the NBA Finals in 2012.

In 2016, Durant signed a free agent contract with the Golden State Warriors. He joined a team that had won the NBA championship the previous season and was led by Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. Durant helped the Warriors win two more NBA championships in 2017 and 2018 and was named the NBA Finals Most Valuable Player in both years.

In 2019, Durant signed a four-year contract with the Brooklyn Nets. He missed the entire 2019-20 season due to a torn Achilles tendon but returned to the court in the 2020-21 season. Durant helped lead the Nets to the Eastern Conference semifinals in 2021 and the conference finals in 2022.

International Career

Durant has also represented the United States on the international stage. He was a member of the gold medal-winning team at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Durant was also named the MVP of the 2010 FIBA World Championship.
