About the Author
William Keith Chambers Guthrie was a Scottish classical scholar and historian of philosophy. He was born in Glasgow in 1906 and died in Cambridge in 1981. Guthrie studied classics at the University of Glasgow and the University of Oxford. He taught at the University of Cambridge from 1939 to 1972.
Guthrie was a prolific writer. He published over 20 books and 100 articles on Greek philosophy and history. His most famous work is his five-volume history of Greek philosophy, A History of Greek Philosophy. Guthrie's work has been praised for its clarity, scholarship, and insights into the development of Greek thought.
